Much of what we do goes on "behind the scene" because that's just the way we guys work here. But as men we get connected with various groups, they find ample opportunity to help other and be helped themselves. Boys are always welcome in all ministries, especially fathers and sons, and mentor teams.
The night begins at 6pm as men and boys enjoy show 'n' tell hobbies and collections, tool demos, and more. Weather will NOT cancel this event unless it is extreme (like all roads closed, etc.). Here are some more details:
- Set up a table display with your favorite hobby, crafts from your workshop, what you like to collect, something of interest to you, what you do for work, your sport or recreational interest, Father/Son activity or interest, or even pictures of your stuff will do! ARRIVE EARLY to set up your table. One table per man or team (you are responsible for setting up and taking down your table).
- Bring your best chili and enter the CHILI COOK-OFF contest. Truth is, that's all were having for dinner! Soft drinks, cheeses, and crackers provided. Prizes (3 awards) will be given for best chilis. (Chili must be made by entrant.) Be sure to check-in your chili at the sign-in table. You will be assigned a number for it. Label your CHILI please if it has any special ingredients (e.g. wild game) and/or if its spicy hot (if unsure, label it anyway).
- Dessert baking contest (3 prizes to be awarded).
- For all food: NO preparation on site. Bring your food ready-to-eat. Remember that power outlets are limited.
MAN CAMP is for men and boys to enjoy a few days outdoor doing "man" things, like campfires, camping, canoeing & kayaking, cooking outdoors, fishing, games, hiking, shotgun shooting, swimming, whittling, and finding Bigfoot. Dads, bring your sons, Grandpas, bring the grandsons. Men, bring your friends. Campers, tents, hammocks, under the stars - anyway you can. You'll find great friends and great fellowship, and maybe even some great food!
We have an entire look reserved for 3rd Annual Man Camp at Smithville Lake in the Camp Branch Campground, sites 327-343. The location puts us near the beach, coves for good fishing, shower house, and the trapshooting range. All sites have water and electric (except Bigfoot's cave).
